August Trollman was band instructor for the College and High School for 30 years.

 

August Trollman

August Trollman, known as the Lawrence Welk of Arkansas City, served as band instructor for the college and Arkansas City High School for 30 years, from 1945 to 1975.

His hard work and dedication to the students in Arkansas City is legendary.

He was born Feb. 4, 1912, in Leavenworth. He married Gene Elizabeth McKee on June 14, 1936, in Fairview. In 1987, Trollman was inducted into the Kansas Music Teacher’s Hall of Fame. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, evening Lions Club, and the Ambassadors of the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce.

Trollman died June 18, 1996.
