How Do I Earn my Kansas State
High School Diploma?
For students that do not have a high school diploma, the Adult Basic Education includes a program to help you prepare to take the GED examination.
Based on your scores of the GED exam, the State of Kansas
can issue you a Kansas State High School Diploma.
Five areas tested over are:
- Writing
- Social Studies
- Science
- Reading
- Math
The five basic tests are multiple choice.
The writing portion also has an additional part—the essay. You are given a statement or question, and you have to write your opinion in a specific amount of time. The math test also has a few questions that you are required to graph the answer, instead of just choosing from a pool of answers.
Each test must score a minimum of 420 with a 2250 overall
total. Average score is 450, which is what we encourage you to shoot
for on each test. If you score better that is awesome!
In order for you to be allowed to take the Final tests you must first:
- Complete the Advanced Class.
- Take and pass the Qualifying Tests.
- Pay $68.00 cash fee or turn in voucher to instructor.
- Kansas ID presented to instructor to see.
- Name must be on the test reservation list.
