Online Student Loan Counseling

Students receiving a Federal Student Loan are required to complete Entrance and Exit Loan Counseling. The purpose of the loan counseling is to make sure students understand their rights and responsibilities regarding the student loan they are about to receive. Accepting a Student Loan is a serious decision, so please, read the information provided in the loan counseling carefully. The loan counseling you complete is an online program, however, if you have any questions regarding your student loan at Cowley, please contact the Financial Aid Office. Our staff will be glad to answer any questions or concerns you may have. The online counseling is offered as a convenience but is not intended to take the place of personal counseling if the student would rather visit in person.

Entrance Counseling must be completed prior to your first disbursement.

Exit Counseling must be completed by the end of your academic year.

Failure to complete Entrance and Exit counseling could result in any of the following:

• Delay in processing of funds
• Delay in disbursement of funds
• Placed on Academic Hold for transcripts and/or grades

Online Student Loan Counseling

1. Go to www.mapping-your-future.org
2. Point to “Student Loan Counseling Interview”; click on either “Entrance Counseling” or “Exit Counseling”.
3. After reading the instructions, locate and select the state and click “Continue”.
4. Select your “School” and click “Continue”.
5. After finishing the test, you will receive an online form to complete. Please provide all the requested information, review it, and click “submit.” The information will be sent to your school’s financial aid office. Print the confirmation page or note your confirmation number for your records.
