Fall 2001

Cindy Branscum, Lead MICT Instructor ------------------ Slade Griffiths, Program Director

Recently Completed Classes
EMT Class - We completed three EMT classes this summer. Randall Smith taught at Mulvane, Dixie Simpson at Oxford and Cindy Branscum at Cedar Vale.

Newborn Resuscitation Class - Robert Ward, RRT taught our class in Winfield. Those who attended all thought that it would be much easier to now treat neonatal patients.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor Class - We conducted our first American Heart Association Instructor class since the recent changes. We were happy to add a bunch of new, fine instructors for this class.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Class - This was also the first time we provided this class following the changes. For the most part, we feel students enjoyed this format better and that substantial learning occurred.

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Class - Randall Smith and others from Sedgwick County EMS provided this program. Those attending really enjoyed the course.

Classes In Progress
EMT - We currently have an evening class in Mulvane which is being taught by Dixie Simpson.

MICT - Our students are now in field internship and can't wait for the year to be completed. They have all done very well this year and should be proud of their accomplishments.

A Landmark Change at the Mulvane Campus
Randall Smith has taught the EMT class for as long as most people can remember! Because of his responsibilities at Sedgwick County EMS and a schedule change, he decided to not teach in the evenings. He misses the students and is considering a day EMT class in Mulvane. Dixie Simpson is now teaching the evening class. Dixie has taught numerous EMT and First Responder classes for Cowley and does a very fine job.

Upcoming Fall EMS Classes in Winfield
