RN to MICT Bridge Program
During the last two newsletters, we discussed the possibility of providing this program. The interest was certainly less than stellar so we plan to put this on hold. If you are interested, please e-mail griffiths@cowley.edu so we can provide an update if the course is developed in the future.

Basic EMS Tactical Operations
The response for this course has been outstanding! This class will be offered on October 23rd and 24th. If you are interested, please go online for information about the class and how to enroll.

2004 EMS & Healthcare Class Schedule
A list of our EMS and healthcare classes for 2004 can be found online at here. Of special interest are the following classes that will be offered in the near future:

Basic EMS Tactical Operations – October 23rd & 24th
PALS Provider – November 4th & 5th
EMS Recertification – November 6th & 7th
EMS Recertification – December 4th & 5th

Please visit our website for more information about these classes.

2005 MICT Program
We have completed the selection process for our next daytime MICT program that starts in January 2005. It was very difficult -- we had many more qualified applicants than seats in the class. It is still our intention to complete an evening class in the future to meet the needs of these students.

Iraq Update
The conflict in the Middle East has deeply affected most all of us in the United States and throughout the world. At home, many of us know someone who has been sent to Iraq or elsewhere with the military.

Eric Stringer, a Cowley EMS student, had planned to enter the MICT program in 2005. In late April, he left with his company to complete work in Iraq. Before he left, he told us that he would be delighted for anyone to write or e-mail him while he is away. He recently returned to the US for a break and went back in mid-September.

Several Cowley MICT students have also ‘adopted' Erin West, a close friend of an MICT student, who is also working in Iraq with the US Army. She was able to return to the US for a small break and is now back in Baghdad working in a hospital.

Dennis Sewell, a PA from Clay Center and longtime flight medic at LifeStar, is being sent to the Middle East for a year tour. He also will be missed by the community.

They are in our thoughts and prayers, and we wish them a speedy and healthy return to the United States.

We plan to send ‘care' packages to these folks and if you wish to participate in this activity, let us know and we can pick up any of your items. Any help to support our friends and troops would be appreciated.
