Medical Office Supportimg

As the reliance on technology continues to expand in offices, the role of the Medical Office Support professional has greatly evolved.  Office automation and organizational restructuring have led secretaries and administrative assistants to assume responsibilities once reserved for managerial and professional staff.  Much of their duties focus on performing and coordinating an office’s administrative activities, as well as storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients.

Career Opportunities

Job prospects should be good and the profession is expected to grow slightly slower than some other positions within healthcare.  However, opportunities should be best for applicants with extensive knowledge of software applications and some experience within the field.

Potential Earnings

Annual earnings greatly vary throughout the United States and depend upon the type of office.

Why choose Cowley?

Our course offers the convenience and flexibility of learning to be a Medical Office Support professional at home.  The students can study as their schedule permits.  This course is competency-based, which means that a student will have acquired the necessary skills to enter the job market upon completion of the course.  Also, the student is using the electronic medium which will be used during employment.

High school graduates who have basic office skills may qualify for entry-level secretarial positions.  However, employers increasingly require extensive knowledge of software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets and database management.

At Cowley, we will help you master these needed skills with our medical office support certificate.  Scholarships are also available on a limited basis.

Upon completion of the certificate, the student is ready to seek work as a medical office support professional.  Because a person’s employment potential is based upon their performance, we cannot guarantee employment.  However, we do whatever we can to provide students with the resources to get started.

Our course is taught by an experienced instructor who worked first as an entry-level secretary and advanced to her current position as office manager.  She brings all of the necessary experience in the industry, and is available to the student even after completion of the course to assist with employment opportunities.

Course Scheduling

The Medical Office Support course is offered in the fall and spring semesters.  Courses with low enrollment may occasionally be cancelled.
