This degree plan allows students to complete their
Associate of Arts degree at Cowley College and continue their
study with Wichita State University (WSU). WSU will offer the
core courses of the Elementary Education licensure program
via interactive television (ITV) and/or online. For those studying
secondary education, core courses for the first semester of
the teacher licensure program will be available via ITV and/or
online. The secondary education majors must then take discipline
specific content courses at the WSU main campus during the
second and third semesters of study. The culminating student
teaching semester for both elementary and secondary majors
can be completed in a school district located in South Central
Kansas. Therefore, students can complete their final semester
in their hometown schools.
The WSU interactive television courses will be available at the
Cowley College Mulvane and Arkansas City campuses, or at other
sites. This will offer students an opportunity to limit their
commuting time by not having to travel to Wichita for the required
course work for all semesters. If interested in this program,
dual advising is recommended. Students should visit with a Cowley
College advisor for more information as this program changes
with demands. Enrollment is limited therefore, students should
consider visiting with the advisor at the beginning of their
sophomore year at Cowley College. |
