Mission Statement

Programs offered include, courses in anthropology, economics, education, early childhood, elementary education, secondary education, geography, history, political science, philosophy, minority studies, psychology, sociology, social work, religion, ethics, health and physical education, recreation, and sports medicine.

Service Learning

Psychology and Sociology courses require all students to complete a minimum number of service hours and a reflective assignment to make connections between real world situations and course concepts. Some Economics courses include a similar course requirement. Confirm with your instructor concerning the number of hours required and due dates.

  • Service Learning MUST be for a non-profit organization or for a preapproved activity listed under the Cowley Service Opportunities link. Students should submit a preapproval form (see Step 1 below).
  • Service Learning hours and reflective assignments submitted for activities which were not preapproved by the Director of Service Learning will receive a grade of zero.
  • Service Learning activities must be completed during the current semester.
  • Students may use one Service Learning activity for more than one course, in the current
semester. However, students must complete a separate reflective assignment for EACH course for the current semester.
