What
is ANGEL? |
 |
ANGEL is
a Web-based course management system that allows faculty to create
Web sites for courses that enhance or deliver course instruction. |
 |
Where
do I find my course or log into to? |
 |
Click on the Log
into ANGEL link that is on every page on the right
side of the top banner. You will be directed to the ANGEL login
page.
Click on the Log into ANGEL graphic to proceed to login.
Read the Student Login Guide,
which explains this process step by step with pictures. |
 |
When
should I log into my course? |
 |
You may NOT
log into most of your online courses until the first day of the semester.
All
courses whether 16-week or 8-week online courses will begin on
the same date as traditional classes. If you are in a 6-week
internet computer class, check the course schedule for starting
date. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! |
 |
When do I
take the mandatory online student orientation? |
 |
Cowley students are required to complete the eLearning Orientation course
before having access to online, web enhanced and hybrid courses in the
ANGEL System. The eLearning Orientation is designed for quick completion—usually
in less than an hour. Students who have completed the orientation once
will not have to take it again for three years.

 |
Where
do I get my books? |
 |
Books and access
codes for your online course(s) may be purchased from the Cowley Bookstore in
Arkansas City KS or the Eastside
Center in Wichita KS. |
 |
Is
there an orientation I can attend to have some of my questions
answered? |
 |
It is highly
recommended that first-time online students take the online eLearning
Orientation course.
|
 |
What is an access code? |
 |
Some
of our courses require an access code to be able to access the course
materials online.
These are like buying a study guide online from the publisher. This
special software has allowed our instructor to make changes to the
content from the publisher to make it their own course.
MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY & PRINCIPLES OF NUTRITION are the only classes
that REQUIRES AN ACCESS CODE. FOR THE REST OF THE ONLINE COURSES, YOU
CAN GET LOGGED ON WITHOUT IT.
If you are uncertain, check with the bookstore or
e-mail your instructor. |
 |
When
should I contact my instructor? |
 |
You
should contact your instructor a week or two before the semester
starts.
You will find instructor
contact information on the
Cowley web site. Here you will find phone numbers and e-mail addresses
of the instructors.
Phone or e-mail your instructor and introduce yourself. This will
be the start of your course because your instructors want to get
to know you.
If you enroll after the semester starts, contact your instructor
immediately and log into your course right away.
Your instructor is looking forward to getting to know you. |
 |
Can
I start my course(s) before the first day of class? |
 |
You will
not be able to start courses until the first day of class.
|
 |
When
I have trouble, who do I contact first? |
 |
First
always, contact your instructor.
Then, if they can't help you, contact the Help
Desk for
technical problems or the Director of eLearning for
general information or concerns you may have. |
 |
What
do I do when I can't get logged in or
my access code doesn't work? |
 |
If
you are having problems logging on, review information on First Password.
If you are still not able to log on, contact the Cowley
Online Helpdesk.
DO THIS RIGHT AWAY!! DON'T WAIT! We
need to help you get started. Again, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!! We
want to help you. |
 |
Do
I ever attend class? |
 |
Very
few of our online classes require that you meet for finals or other
exams. Should distance prevent your attending a Cowley site, we will
work with you to establish a proctoring situation.
|
 |
Can
I finish early if I put more hours in during the week? |
 |
No, all classes
will be handled on a traditional format for release of materials
(assignments, tests, etc.) to students. Discussion groups, chat rooms,
group work will be an important part of these classes. However, some
work may be able to be done on a self-paced format. |

title or icon.
