Jesse Kindred
Class of 1950
Outstanding Tiger Alumni 1990

Jesse KindredMay 5, 1990, marks the 40th year since the Class of 1950 went out into the world to leave its imprint. The Alumni Office was able to locate some of the people listed on the ACJC roster for that year and extended a special invitation to them to come to campus at Commencement time for a reception in W.S. Scott Auditorium-Gymnasium.

Two individuals from that class have been selected from the nominees for Outstanding Alumni. Jesse Kindred, Arkansas City jeweler, receives honors for outstanding service in city government. After being in the construction business 25 years, Jesse and his wife Nancy started the jewelry business in 1972. Recognizing the need for personal involvement in the community, Jesse ran for the public office of city commissioner in 1985, was elected, and has served as commissioner and mayor. During his tenure, the city budget has been maintained with no cost increase in the last five years. Jesse has given many hours toward planning, study and service for the city of Arkansas City.
