Seniors in High School that are
considering enrolling at Cowley College are encouraged to audition for an Instrumental
Music Scholarship.

Instrumental Music auditions will be
held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Band Room. An Instrumental
Audition Sign-Up Sheet will be available at the registration table,
and warm up rooms will be provided in BC214 and BC216.
The Instrumental Music Scholarship covers your books and tuition
for 2 years whether you are a music
major or not. Our credits transfer to all 4-year institutions,
and we work hard to make sure you’re prepared
to go on after graduation from Cowley.
If
you love to perform...
If you want to perform in an instrumental music group, Cowley offers
incredible opportunities. Each group has major student involvement
and are showcased frequently throughout the academic year. Performance
classes are offered for music majors and non-music majors alike
with the ultimate goal of being an enjoyable, educational experience.
Instrumental music groups (Concert Band,
Jazz Band, Jazz Combo and Guitar Ensemble) perform a wide variety of music for various
local and statewide functions. Tours to high schools and major
festivals are planned.

About Josh
Josh Fleig is the Director of Instrumental Music at Cowley College. He is responsible for the direction of all instrumental ensembles and oversees all applied instrumental studies. He also instructs all music theory courses and teaches applied brass and guitar. Since coming to Cowley in 2006 Josh has facilitated immense growth and development of the instrumental music program. As an active guitarist, composer and arranger, he is passionate about creating music and sharing in the pursuit of musical excellence with his students.
"We are all capable of incredible things," he says. "As an educator it is my mission to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to become capable, accomplished musicians."
Josh earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education at Wichita State University. Before coming to Cowley he taught elementary and middle school band and orchestra at Bethel Life School in Wichita and private guitar lessons in the Wichita area.
