About Scott MacLaughlin
Scott holds a master
of education degree from Wichita State University and a bachelor
of science degree in theatre from Kansas State University.
His
first experience with Cowley was as a student. Scott along with
his family moved from western New York to Kansas in 1992. He
enrolled at Cowley and quickly became engulfed in the fine arts
program. Noting his experiences at Cowley as “life
changing events” he directed his collegiate goals to include
theatre and education.
Shortly after graduating from Kansas State
in 1996, he returned to Cowley to take on the duties of Technical
Director of Theatre. Scott was the “TD” for Cowley
until 2003 when he assumed the responsibilities of the overall
Director of Theatre and Theatrical Services. Scott is responsible
for directing the main stage shows at Cowley. He sponsors Act
One the drama club, and teaches Theatre Appreciation, Acting,
and Public Speaking.
About Jamison Rhoads
Jamison, technical director
of theater, holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Temple
University in Philadelphia, PA. and a Bachelor of Fine Arts
Degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan. Since
joining the faculty at Cowley College in 2003, Rhoads has used
this talents in many ways including designing the lighting,
sound, and scenery for “Proposals”, “Les
Misérables School Edition,” and “Crazy for
You” to name a few. You’ll also find him in the classroom
(and the stage and shop) teaching Theater Technology. Prior
to joining the Cowley theatre team, Rhoads designed and taught
at the University of New Orleans and Tufts University.
From the time Jamison Rhoads started college, way back in fall
1990, he’s carried with him one goal — to work
in theatre as long as he can. To his credit, during the past
17 years, he has done just that. Along the way, Jamison has worked
for many theatre companies including Music Theater of Wichita,
The Juilliard School, The Atlantic Theater Company, The Prince
Music Theater, Walnut Street Theater, and The Chautauqua Institute.
Rhoads is thrilled to be creating quality theater again in South
Central Kansas. His parents Jane and John as well as his sister
Jennifer and her family all still live in Wichita, so they finally
get to see his shows again. Rhoads is also excited to be working
with such talented colleagues and students here at Cowley. In
his own words, “Our goal here at Cowley is to work together,
as a team to create theatre of the highest possible quality.”
