EBSCO is an on-line database that provides full-text access to journals and magazines. It is by far the best resource that our library has to offer. We subscribe to approximately 15 different databases from EBSCO. The largest, most comprehensive database is Academic Search Premier. It provides access to more than 4,500 full-text publications. If you are unsure of which database you should use, Academic Search Premier is always a great starting place. Some other popular databases on EBSCO are, ERIC, Newspaper Source, Sociological Collection, Religion and Philosophy Collection, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, Health Source Collection, and Business Source Premier. You may search multiple databases at once to expand your searching, or you may search the databases individually.
In order to use EBSCO, you must either be on a college-owned computer, or have the unique username and password needed to log on. If you are currently a Cowley College student, you can get a list of the library usernames and passwords through your Campus Connect Account. (Go to the college's main page, click on Campus Connect, enter your ID and PIN, once you are logged on click on "other resources.") Or you can contact the library.
Once you have logged on to EBSCO, you must choose which databases you wish to search, then click on "continue." Enter your keyword(s) in the FIND box. Then click on the "search" button. This is the simplest way to conduct a search, although there is a variety of methods to limit or expand your search. For more information, please consult your librarian.
