As the trend of online enrollment treks across the
Midwest, Cowley has jumped on the technology bandwagon and plans to offer
the service to all students who enroll in April 2003 for summer and fall
2003 classes. Most four-year schools and some community colleges offer
their students online enrollment. Cowley is working to have the most
efficient and user-friendly program. The whole process is quite simple.
A Cowley student must first meet with his adviser to discuss the courses he needs
to take in order to satisfy the requirements of the college for graduating and
for his major. After this meeting, the student will be cleared to enroll at www.cowley.edu.
The "Academics" link must be selected and then followed by entering "Logon
to Campus Connect." Each student must enter his student identification number
and pin number in order to access his account.
Each link on the web page is designed to help the student in many ways. Students
can register, add or drop classes, print a class schedule, see an unofficial
transcript and even review the status of their account. This will make the administrative
duties of the faculty much less because the massive amounts of paperwork will
be minimized. "The system is very user-friendly and will provide a convenient
way for students to access information anytime and any place," said Pam
Doyle, dean of student learning.
Currently, students are able to look up some of their academic information on
Campus Connect, using a pin number. The actual online enrollment process will
not be available to all students who enroll for spring, but a few students will
be the pilot class late this fall in enrolling for spring to see if the program
works as planned. If all is well, Cowley students will be enrolling online for
fall 2003 classes.
