Campbell Named Top Student Maggie Campbell, a sophomore from Cedar Vale, was
named Cowley’s Student of the Year during the annual Celebration
of Excellence, the honors and awards banquet, April 23 in the Earle N.
Wright Community Room. Campbell was chosen from the pool of eight Students
of the Month throughout the 2001-2002 academic year.
Sue Saia, dean of student life, presented Campbell with the award. More than
220 people attended the banquet. Campbell, who was named the November 2001 Student
of the Month, has had a successful two years at Cowley.
The daughter of Karen and Michael Campbell of Cedar Vale became just the second
student not from Ark City to be crowned Queen Alalah last October. And most recently,
Campbell was a finalist for the Outstanding Student of Arkansas City Award presented
by the city of Arkansas City. Cowley student Blake Stites, a sophomore from Prescott,
won that award.
Campbell, an elementary education major, holds a 4.0 grade-point average, was
a member of the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division champion Lady Tiger basketball
team, is a Student Ambassador, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, is involved in
Campus Christian Fellowship, and is an Honor Graduate, meaning she is in the
top 10 percent of Cowley’s spring graduating class of approximately 450
students. Students in more than a dozen campus clubs and organizations were honored
during the annual banquet.
