Hall of Fame to Induct Six
Six individuals will be inducted into the Tiger
Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony Feb. 1, 2003. Jim Carter, Bill
Clay, Jerry Mullen, the late Dr. Gwen Nelson, Barb Rausch Littell, and
John Woodworth will comprise the fourth Hall of Fame class.
Carter played basketball for the Tigers, but he’s best known as a standout
tennis player. He was state doubles champion in 1956 and state singles champion
in 1957.
Clay also played basketball and tennis. He was state singles and doubles champion
in 1948 and singles champion in 1949.
Mullen was men’s basketball coach from 1973-1979, compiling a 107-67 record.
He now serves as president of Mullen’s Sports Enterprises, Inc., a nationwide
basketball scouting service.
Nelson, the second president of the college, was a staunch supporter of Tiger
Athletics. He and his wife Lu always could be found at Tiger games.
Rausch Littell was a standout in volleyball and basketball. She was an All-American
in basketball and played in the East-West All-Star Game. She is married to long-time
Seward County women’s basketball coach Jim Littell.
Woodworth starred in basketball, football, and baseball who went on to become
a two-time NAIA All-American wide receiver at Fort Hays State University.
