Carnegie Hall

Cowley’s Concert Choir, under the direction of Connie Donatelli, was invited to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York City in late April. Cowley was invited by Rod Walker, conductor of the Kansas State University Choir and Chorale.

Cowley, KSU, and choirs from Emporia State University and Denton (Texas) High School performed April 27 before a capacity crowd. Donatelli took nearly 60 students. “Words can’t really express the impact of what we experienced, the magnitude of it,” Donatelli said. “I do know that it was a life-changing experience for everyone involved. What’s really exciting is it was a residency. We spent two days rehearsing from 8:30 until noon. The kids got to see a big-time atmosphere and what that feels like.”

Following the concert, all 280 students were guests aboard the “Spirit of America” cruise ship. It cruised around the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor and included a meal and dancing.
