Enrollment up Five Percent

Enrollment of full-time students on the main campus in Arkansas City increased 5 percent from fall 2003, according to figures released by Registrar Forest Smith. Smith released approximate figures, as not all fall rosters had been turned in by the end of the 20th day of the semester, Sept. 16. The 20th day of each semester is the official reporting period for the purposes of collecting state aid.

Main-campus FTE was at 1,174, up 53 FTE from a year ago. When classes began on Aug. 19, all morning and most afternoon sections were full. Total full-time equivalency was at 3,070, down 25 FTE from fall 2003, a decrease of less than 1 percent. The total number of students enrolled was at 4,400, down 204 students from fall 2003, a 4-percent drop. The Southside Education Center in Wichita showed a slight decrease from fall 2003 figures. Enrollment was at 1,268, down 28 FTE, which amounts to 2 percent. The college anticipates enrollment to increase when students enroll in the Aviation Tech Center in Wichita.
