
The Student Ambassadors were voted winners of
the student category, while the group called Lady Administrators took
home the traveling trophy for first place in the staff category during
the annual lip-sync contest Puttin’ on the Hits held Sept. 9.
The Student Ambassadors lip-synched “We Both Reached for the
Gun” to claim the top prize. Second place went to the Black Student
Union for “Whatever Lola Wants,” third place went to Act
One for “Thriller,” and fourth place went to the Tigerette
Danceline for “Shrek.”
The Lady Administrators team of Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
Sheree Utash, Dean of North Campuses Sarah Wesbrooks, Dean of Student Learning
Pam Doyle and Dean of Student Life Sue Saia captured first in the faculty, staff,
and administration category with “Cell Block Tango.” The Phat Trio
of Humanities Instructors Marlys Cervantes and Tom Mason, plus Humanities Secretary
Jacque Ramirez, was second with “Eat It.” Finishing third was the
Library/Bookstore Girls, comprised of Director of Library Services Rhoda MacLaughlin,
Director of Bookstore Operations Shannon O’Toole, Bookstore Assistant Melissa
Hollister, Spirit Squad Coach/Activities Coordinator Kristi Shaw, and special
guest Tom Saia, Cowley’s athletic director. The group lip-synched a four-song
medley.
