Ambassadors Crowned Champs

The Student Ambassadors were voted winners of the student category, while the group called Lady Administrators took home the traveling trophy for first place in the staff category during the annual lip-sync contest Puttin’ on the Hits held Sept. 9. The Student Ambassadors lip-synched “We Both Reached for the Gun” to claim the top prize. Second place went to the Black Student Union for “Whatever Lola Wants,” third place went to Act One for “Thriller,” and fourth place went to the Tigerette Danceline for “Shrek.”

The Lady Administrators team of Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Sheree Utash, Dean of North Campuses Sarah Wesbrooks, Dean of Student Learning Pam Doyle and Dean of Student Life Sue Saia captured first in the faculty, staff, and administration category with “Cell Block Tango.” The Phat Trio of Humanities Instructors Marlys Cervantes and Tom Mason, plus Humanities Secretary Jacque Ramirez, was second with “Eat It.” Finishing third was the Library/Bookstore Girls, comprised of Director of Library Services Rhoda MacLaughlin, Director of Bookstore Operations Shannon O’Toole, Bookstore Assistant Melissa Hollister, Spirit Squad Coach/Activities Coordinator Kristi Shaw, and special guest Tom Saia, Cowley’s athletic director. The group lip-synched a four-song medley.
