Members of the college’s Academic Civic
Engagement through Service (ACES) packaged 12 boxes of items and shipped
them to United States military personnel serving on international soil.
The effort, titled Operation Happy Holiday, was an idea to help get
the entire college community involved.
ACES solicited donations of various items, including ink pens, paper, beef jerky,
hard candy, overseas phone cards, paperback books, dryer sheets, baby wipes,
and powdered Gatorade. Items collected during October and early November were
shipped out on Nov. 12. Boxes were located in Galle-Johnson Hall, the foyer of
W.S. Scott Auditorium, the Southside Education Center in Wichita, the Mulvane
Center, and the Aviation Tech Center, also in Wichita. Michelle Knoles is service
learning coordinator.
