Beverly Lewis, a 1969 Cowley
graduate, and New York Times bestselling author, continues to stay
immersed in her work and recently released “The Preachers Daughter,” the
first in a captivating new series titled Annie’s People. The
book introduces an Amish community in Paradise, Pennsylvania. The book
also introduces Annie Zook, the 19-year old daughter of an Old Order
Amish preacher. It is a moving story of friendship, secrets, and love.
The Preachers Daughter debuted October 20 at number 72 on the USA Today
bestseller list.
Lewis recently concluded a 10-day tour through the eastern United States to promote
the book, which has more than 300,000 copies in print. Lewis burst on to the
Evangelical Christian Bestseller list with “The Shunning,” the first
book of an adult fiction series Lewis wrote titled The Heritage of Lancaster
County. The sequel, “The Confession,” was released in fall 1997,
while the final book of the trilogy, “The Reckoning,” was released
a year later.
As with many of Lewis’ books, “The Shunning” was
inspired by her own childhood experiences growing up in Lancaster, Pa. Lewis
is a bestselling author of more than 70 books. Lifetime sales of Lewis’s
books exceed six million copies. She is also an accomplished musician, and was

Carol McAdoo Rehme, a 1971 Cowley graduate, has found success
as a published writer, editor, non-profit director and public speaker since attending
Cowley. Rehme is a prolific contributor to the Chicken Soup series. She also
writes for many publications specializing in the inspirational market. She has
also edited Chicken Soup for the Bride’s Soul, Chicken Soup for the African
American Soul, and Chicken Soup for the Mothers of Preschoolers Soul. . She is
the co-author of the recently released Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Book of
Christmas Virtues.
When she isn’t writing stories, Rehme can be found telling them. She presents
at educational and corporate conferences and a variety of other venues. She currently
directs a non-profit agency called Vintage Voices, Inc. The agency’s primary
program, Silver Linings for Golden Agers, targets residents of long term care
facilities. This grant-driven original model provides a stimulating mix of story
and activities designed to decrease social isolation, encourage reality orientation,
