Cowley vocal group selling singing Valengrams in area
A Valentine’s Day tradition that began more than a decade ago
at Cowley College is continuing as the college’s CC Singers are
selling Singing Valengrams.
Now through Feb. 11, the CC Singers are selling Singing Valengrams to
customers in the Arkansas City and Winfield area. For $20, customers
will receive one song, one carnation, and one homemade Valentine card.
For an extra $5, an additional song will be sung. Orders often are made
for husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, moms and dads. Most
recipients of the Singing Valengrams are surprised when the CC Singers
show up in their formal attire.
“It’s a long day of singing, but the students have a lot
of fun doing it,” said Connie Donatelli, Cowley’s director
of vocal music. “It allows the CC Singers a chance to get out and
perform some traditional love songs, and it brightens the day of a lot
of people.”
Deliveries will be made to the Arkansas City and
Winfield areas between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Valentine’s Day,
Feb. 14.
This year’s selection of songs:
1. Let Me Call You Sweetheart.
2. I Love You Truly.
3. Hooked On a Feeling.
4. I’ll Be There.
5. I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You (Elvis
Presley).
6. Close To You.
7. Happy Together.
8. Let It Be Me (I Bless the Day . . .).
9. Can’t Help Lovin’ That Man (female
singers only).
10. Unchained Melody (male singers only).
To order, contact the Humanities Office at 441-5252
or 441-5223. Proceeds go to support the CC Singers with the group’s
spring tour and other projects.
