Cowley student awarded Best in Show at graphic design contest
Kira Endicott, a Computer Graphic Arts student at Cowley College, received
the Best in Show award Saturday at the Kansas American Institute for
Graphic Arts Student Portfolio Forum in Wichita.
Endicott, 22, a 2000 graduate of Arkansas City High School, was one
of three Cowley students who entered the competition. Zach Noland and
Philip Roth also entered for Cowley instructor Denise Irwin.
The students competed against 12 other two-year students.
This was the first year Irwin entered students in the competition.
“She entered 12 pieces of graphic design work from her course
work here at Cowley,” Irwin said. “She is a designer with
a clean, modernist look, with a very feminine, graceful feel.”
Endicott’s entries included logo design, collateral
design, and book and poster designs.
Endicott said she was surprised she won Best in Show.
“I didn’t even think I would win anything because everyone
else’s portfolios looked better,” she said. “I was
just hoping mine wasn’t the worst. I don’t even think I really
presented mine that well because I was so nervous.”
Endicott received Adobe CS software and a scholarship check.
