Cowley College freshman Laura Durham was the winner of the fourth annual Cowley Idol held Wednesday night at the Robert Brown Theatre.

The Cowley Idol is Cowley’s version of American Idol as 14 contestants battled for the title. The contestants each got an opportunity to sing parts of two songs and then the top-three finalists sang one final song of their choice in its entirety.

Last year’s champion, Meagan Martinson, finished as runner-up. Kelsey Creed finished third in the competition.

Over $110 was raised for Gunner Schultz, son of former Cowley security guard Mark Schultz. Gunner has been diagnosed with a terminal brain stem glioma (tumor) and is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment in Houston, Texas. A large portion of his treatment will not be covered through insurance. Donations can be made to "Gift for Gunner" at any Corner Bank location.
