Cowley’s Norton earns CPLP credential

Susan Norton, Cowley College Dean of Corporate Education, recently earned
the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential.
Norton, who holds a bachelor of science degree in business management,
and a master's of education degree in adult education from Newman University,
earned the credential by passing both a knowledge exam and a work product.
“I sought the certification as a way to communicate my dual background
in the academic and corporate training arenas,” Norton said. “This
is the first comprehensive training certification that addressed not
only expertise in curriculum development, but program development and
planning as well.”
The CPLP credential covers nine areas of expertise as defined by the
American Society for Training and Development Competency Model. The credential
is valid for three years, and can be maintained through retesting or
by earning professional development credits.
Norton is currently a doctoral candidate in adult and continuing education,
and is writing her dissertation for Kansas State University.
