Jan Hatfield to perform at Caffé Acoustic

Arkansas
City native Jan Hatfield will be the featured performer at Caffé Acoustic
held April 19 at Brown’s in Arkansas City. There is no cost to
attend the concert.
Hatfield began playing guitar at age seven. His musical styles are very
diverse ranging from country, blues, jazz, and rock from the 1950’s
to today. He recognizes how all styles have come from the blues, in which
he believes all music we listen to today has a taste of blues in it.
He has formed a quartet consisting of rock drummer, Kirk Russell from
Wichita, Kan., Jazz bassist, Lee Velasquez from Ark City, and 17-year-old
bluegrass banjo player, Derek Vaden also from Ark City.
Along with Jan’s blues style of guitar you will take a historical
journey of American music beginning in 1930 to current day. You will
be treated to an evening of many styles of music while you also learn
of their origins, historical values and influences on today’s music.
Following his Caffé Acoustic appearance, Hatfield will join Vaden
for a performance at Cowley College’s Brown Theatre on April 22.
He will also perform with his classic rock and blues band called The
Howlers as part of the Blues and BBQ fundraiser at the Ark City Dance
building on April 27.
The Howlerz have played to raise money for the Winfield Youth Symphony
and also for safe shelters.
Caffé Acoustic is funded by The Union State Bank, Home National
Bank, Corner Bank, The Arts at Cowley, and Cowley College.
