Mark Bowling and Piper Leigh will be the featured performers at Caffé Acoustic
held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at Brown’s in Arkansas City.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Mark Bowling is a singer/songwriter from Arkansas City. He writes from
his life experiences and captures the humor, irony and beauty around
him in his songs. He draws his influence from Lyle Lovett, Hal Ketchum
and Don Williams with such a creativity and breadth, that his songs sound
familiar in a brand new way. In 2005, Mark performed two of his original
songs at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson and won the State Finals
competition of the Colgate Country Showdown.
In 2005, Mark released his CD, "A Room With A View", with 16
original songs. This CD taps into the human condition with laughter,
tears, new love, loss and hope.
Piper Leigh is a singer, songwriter and 1999 graduate of Cowley College.
She is an Arkansas City native and the daughter of Doug and Dejon Ewing.
Leigh’s venues include playing in Dublin and Dingle, Ireland, with
Gerry O’Beirne; at the Tumbleweed Festival in Garden City; and
at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield. Other venues include The Artichoke
and River City Brewery in Wichita and The Celtic Fox and The Starry Night
Cafe in Topeka.
Leigh’s CD, "A Night at the Cabaret," is a recording
of two Live shows combined for a great enjoy-the-show experience. Some
of Piper's original songs, "It Ain't Me," "1,000 Miles
From Sunday," and "Down On Beale," are surrounded by such
an eclectic collection of styles that there's sure to be something everyone
can enjoy. This CD is a window into Piper's versatility as a performer.
Brown’s is located at 225 S. Summit St. Caffé Acoustic is
a community project, with CornerBank, Home National Bank, and Union State
Bank helping fund the concert series.
