Cowley College Relay for Life team raises over $5,000

Relay for Life teamSeveral Cowley College employees took part in the annual Cowley County Relay For Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society, Friday at the Agri-Business Building in Arkansas City.

Cowley College’s relay team raised $5,182.22, while the event raised a total of $92,357.01.

“We had an excellent turnout and I was very pleased with the amount of money raised this year,” said Toni Greene, chairperson of the committee that organizes Relay for Life.

There were numerous booths set up inside the Agri-Business Building, including a snow-cone booth, which was operated by Cowley College Phi Theta Kappa students and sponsors Melinda Neal and Nancy Ayers.

A track of luminaries, featuring the names of cancer victims, was set up inside and outside of the Agri-Business Building. Cancer survivors took part in a survivor lap to open the event.
