Cowley College Relay for Life team raises over $5,000
Several Cowley College employees took part in the annual Cowley County
Relay For Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society, Friday at the
Agri-Business Building in Arkansas City.
Cowley College’s relay team raised $5,182.22, while the event
raised a total of $92,357.01.
“We had an excellent turnout and I was very pleased with the amount of
money raised this year,” said Toni Greene, chairperson of the committee
that organizes Relay for Life.
There were numerous booths set up inside the Agri-Business Building,
including a snow-cone booth, which was operated by Cowley College Phi
Theta Kappa students and sponsors Melinda Neal and Nancy Ayers.
A track of luminaries, featuring the names of cancer victims, was set
up inside and outside of the Agri-Business Building. Cancer survivors
took part in a survivor lap to open the event.
