Students bond at Theatre Scholarship Camp
Looking to continue the stellar work done in Cowley College’s Theatre
Department, 25 students took part in the school’s Theatre Scholarship
Camp held July 16-17.
Participants in the camp were treated to team building exercises, theatre
workshops, games, and challenge course initiatives.
“This serves as a way to orient students to our program and show them
how things work,” theatre director Scott MacLaughlin said. “It
was a good time, the kids really bonded.”
The students also had an opportunity to attend Music Theatre Wichita’s
production of “All Shook Up”, and stay the night at the school’s
Oscar Kimmell Dormitory.
Along with MacLaughlin, fellow Cowley employees Jennifer Blatchford,
Jamison Rhoads, and Sue Saia helped with the camp.
MacLaughlin believes the freshmen entering the theatre program gained
a lot by attending the camp.
“It is really beneficial, they will come back in August feeling comfortable
because they know people in the group,” MacLaughlin said.
