Cowley Students display their work at the Photo Gallery
Cowley College Digital Photography students displayed
their work at their Gallery Opening Thursday night, April 23, at Brown’s.
Throughout
the semester, students learned about the various aspects of photography
and what makes a photo interesting. The various techniques and composition
were evident in the displayed photos. The event was attended by over
60 guests.
Each student was asked to put together a photo-based invitation to be
sent out to friends and family.
“As part of their assignment, the class put together their own theme
and designed invitations which they could distribute by hand, mail or electronic
delivery, said digital photography instructor, Meg Smith. “This year’s
theme was sidewalk café.”
Guests were treated to cherry limeades, fresh fruit, cheese, and crackers
as they perused the exhibit. Students mingled with the crowd and discussed
the images, techniques and effects on display.
“I was pleased with the turnout,” said Smith. “There were
over 60 guests in attendance including family members, fellow students and
friends.”
Smith said she would like to see this become a semester event with students
ending the semester with an opening each year. The exhibit will remain
in place through May 15.
