Cowley students take trip to Winfield Veterans Home

A group of students from Cowley College and a group of young people who are doing community service in Ark City recently took a trip to the Veterans Home in Winfield.

The student group cooked and served breakfast to the seniors and then spent the morning playing various games and engaging in conversation.

“Not only did we have high school and college age kids, but also four grade school aged kids,” said service learning coordinator Michelle Knoles “The kids got the chance to learn various games including chess, shuffleboard, poker and blackjack, and they got a lesson in living history. The kids said this was one of their favorite projects thus far and we plan to do it again soon.”
