Kasha Kelley to serve as Cowley College Commencement speaker
Kasha Kelley, Kansas House State Representative for the 79th District
of Kansas, will be the featured speaker at Cowley College’s 86th Commencement
exercises held at 10 a.m. May 9 inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.
Kelley serves as the CEO of First Intermark Corp. in Arkansas City, and
is a third-term member of the Kansas House of Representatives where she
serves on the Appropriations Committee and is a vice chair of the General
Government Budget Committee.
She has won the highest awards in piano competitions, Kansas Association
of Broadcasters story competition, Miss America pageant system, is a
published writer, and was a lead in steering major corporations to re-direct
their advertising budgets to family-friendly television fare.
Before her service in the House of Representatives, she was involved
in radio and television news reporting. She also served as a book editor
for a Lawrence based writer and as a publicity manager for a CO publishing
Company. She has also worked as a director of a non-profit organization
in Virginia as well as various other posts.
She attended Arkansas City High School and later graduated from the University
of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
