Ruddle named MICT instructor
Deryk Ruddle, former recipient of the Patrick J. McAtee award as a student
in Cowley College’s MICT program, will begin full-time employment
as an MICT instructor at Cowley on Jan. 21, 2009.
Ruddle graduated from the MICT program in 2005. He is currently a field
paramedic with Butler County EMS, and is active with their training division
and serves on several committees. He has also been a part-time staff
instructor for both Cowley and Butler Community Colleges’ EMS programs
for several years.
Prior to becoming an MICT, Ruddle served four years with the United States
Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge.
Ruddle will be the MICT instructor for the 18-month MICT program located
in Andover, and will also teach other EMS and allied health courses.
He is currently finishing his Instructor/Coordinator mentored teaching,
and plans to start a bachelor’s degree program in the near future.
Chris Cannon, Cowley College’s director of EMS education and chair
of the Allied Health Department, is glad to add Ruddle to the staff.
“I could not be happier with his decision to come to Cowley full-time,” Cannon
said. “I look forward to working with him as he helps Cindy (Branscum)
and I guide the MICT program into the future.”
