Cowley College announces presidential finalists

After an extensive national search, the Cowley College Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that there are three finalists for the presidency of Cowley College. The three finalists are being invited to participate in public forums at Cowley College and interviews with the Board of Trustees.

The finalists are, Mr. N. Clark Williams, Dr. Robert Riza, and Dr. Michael Calvert.

Bios for the finalists:

  • Mr. N. Clark WilliamsMr. N. Clark Williams is a Vice President and the Chief Operating Officer for Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon. As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Williams has been responsible for the duties of a chief administrative officer, a chief financial officer, and a chief technology officer. In addition, he has the senior executive responsibilities for enrollment management, as well as the leadership of the college’s four branch campuses, the construction and maintenance of facilities, and the operation of auxiliary enterprises. Previously, Mr. Williams served as Chairman, President and CEO of DecisionWorks, Inc. in Reston, VA. Mr. Williams holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Economic Systems from Stanford University in Stanford, CA and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.

  • Dr. Robert Keith RizaDr. Robert Keith Riza currently serves as the Vice President – Student Services at Hill College, a multi-campus comprehensive community college located in Hillsboro, TX.  Dr. Riza brings many years of experience in higher education, including student services, instruction, and athletic administration. Dr. Riza has served as the Executive Director of Athletics and Associate Vice Chancellor – Student Affairs at Pima Community College, in Tucson, Arizona, the nation’s sixth largest community college. Dr. Riza holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum, Supervision and Instruction from Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX, a Master of Science in Secondary and Higher Education from Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX, Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, TX and an Associate of Arts from Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX.

  • Dr. Michael CalvertDr. Michael Calvert is the Campus President/College Vice-President for Central Community College in Grand Island, Nebraska. Prior to this position, Dr. Calvert served for 20 years at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. He was a Dean for 14 years, primarily overseeing the campuses at Andover, Rose Hill, and McConnell Air Force Base. Dr. Calvert has a diverse set of experiences in higher education including: instruction, administration, coaching, community involvement, fund-raising, student services, and residential life. Dr. Calvert holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, a Master of Arts in Physical Education from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD and a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA.

Candidate Public Forums will take place on the 8th, 9th and 10th of April. All forums will take place in the Earle N. Wright Community Room located inside the Brown Center at 3 p.m. All members of the College community, faculty, staff, students and members of the public at large are invited and encouraged to attend. There will be a brief introduction of each candidate followed by a question/answer session. Comment forms will be given to all who attend and the completed comment forms will be collected and given to the Cowley College Board of Trustees for its review as part of the deliberation process.

The schedule of forums is as follows:

April 8 - Mr. Williams; April 9 - Dr. Riza; April 10 - Dr. Calvert.
