Putting together one of the most
solid regular seasons of any pitcher in the history of Cowley County
Community College’s
baseball program, sophomore pitcher Josh Wahpepah was named an All-Region
VI selection.
Although he struggled in both of
the Tigers’ losses
at the Region VI Tournament played at Wichita’s Lawrence-Dumont
Stadium over the weekend, Wahpepah went 11-1 with an earned run average
of 1.24 during the regular season. He was named the Jayhawk Conference
Eastern Division Most Valuable player as he helped the Tigers capture
their ninth conference title in the past 10 years, and finished the season
with 94 strikeouts in 95 2/3 innings.
Cowley finished the season with a record of 43-19 and
finished second to Seward County at the Region VI Tournament.

catcher, Butler County; Jimmy Majica, freshman, infielder, Kansas
City; Jeff Schlosser, sophomore, infielder, Neosho County; Brett
Kinning, sophomore, designated hitter, Johnson County.
Defensive Player of the Year — Jeff
Christy, catcher, Barton County.
