Lady Tigers sign talented in-state player

Losing small forwards Devin Reed and Ashley Stinson to graduation, the Cowley County Community College women’s basketball team hopes the signing of 5-10 Erie High School senior Erin Oliver will help solidify the position.

Oliver was named a First-Team All-Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League performer each of the last two seasons. She also was a Third-Team All-State Class 3A selection as a senior, and an Honorable Mention All-State Class 3A performer her junior year.

This past season, Oliver averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist per game. She was named to the All-Tournament team at both the Wildcat Classic and the Wilson County Classic. She also played in the 103.5 Radio Southeast Kansas All-Star Game, and the Fort Scott Southeast Kansas All-Star game.

Cowley head coach Stephanie Smith was happy to get Oliver to commit to the Lady Tigers.

“Erin is a hard-working player who can score in a variety of ways,” Smith said. “She is a natural rebounder and has an excellent attitude. Erin’s enthusiastic outlook will make her a real asset to our team.”

Oliver was a four-year varsity letter-winner at Erie.
