Cowley to host all-star basketball games on March 26

First-year Cowley College head coach Brian Jackson recently announced final plans for a series of All-Star games to be held the day after the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament championship game.

Jackson said four games will be held on the campus of Cowley College in Arkansas City on March 26 beginning at 1 p.m. The NJCAA tournament is scheduled at the Hutchinson Sports Arena, March 21-25.

Players in the all-star games will be selected from all-region and all-conference teams and both signed and unsigned sophomores will participate.

The first two games at Cowley will feature players only from Kansas, the first contest spotlighting the bottom third-best players (41-60) players and the second game at 3 p.m. bringing together the second third best players (21-40). At 5 p.m. the 11-20 best players from Arkansas-Oklahoma will play a Kansas contingent and at 7 p.m. the top 10 players from Arkansas-Oklahoma will play against Kansas' best.

A coaches packet is $25, with a $5 fee for any additional coaches from the same staff, according to Jackson. Packets will include player information, contact telephone numbers and the signing status of all players. In addition, Legleiter Video Productions will videotape all of the games. For hotel accommodations, contact the Regency Court Inn at 620-442-7703.
