Tiger baseball team suffers first home loss

Despite out-hitting Crowder College 11-7 Thursday at City Ball Park, the No. 9-ranked Cowley College baseball team had some costly errors lead to a 10-6 defeat.
The Tigers committed five errors en route to their first home loss of the season. Cowley had been 8-0 at home prior to the loss to Crowder.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the top of the fifth inning, the Tigers’ defense let them down as four errors allowed Crowder to score five runs in the fifth. Cowley pulled within 10-6 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, but Crowder’s Brent Maggard retired the Tigers in order to preserve the win.

Kyle Dotson (0-4) took the loss as he allowed four hits and three runs in 2 1/3 innings pitched. Roughrider starting pitcher Ryan Gargano allowed seven hits and three runs in five innings pitched as he picked up the win.

Zach Berg and Ryan McMillan led Cowley at the plate as each player finished with two hits and a run batted in. Brad Miller went 1-for-2 with two RBI’s and two stolen bases.
The loss drops Cowley’s record to 13-6 overall.
