Two days after sweeping a doubleheader against Highland, the Cowley College baseball team suffered a pair of disappointing losses at Highland on Tuesday.

The Tigers lost the first game 7-3, and dropped game two 5-2. The defeats drop Cowley one game behind Neosho County for first place in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.

“They outplayed us and deserved to win,” Cowley head coach Dave Burroughs said. “We need to give a better effort and compete.”

In game one, Cowley held leads of 2-0 and 3-2, but Highland scored four runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth to win 7-3.

Brad Miller (3-2) took the loss for the Tigers as he allowed eight hits and five earned runs in six innings pitched. Nick Troilo had two of Cowley’s seven hits in the defeat.

In game two, Highland got a three-run homer from Dylan Libadisos in a five-run first inning, and held on for a 5-2 win.
