Cowley baseball has seven players named All-Conference

patdaoustBenefiting from another strong season, the Cowley College baseball team placed seven players on the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division All-Conference teams.

The Tigers had four players named first-team all-conference and three more named to the second-team. No other team in the conference had more than four players named to the first two teams.

Sophomore shortstop Brad Miller (.339 average, seven home runs, 39 RBI’s) was named a first-team selection for the second consecutive year, while sophomore catcher Pat D’Aoust (.390 average, eight home runs, 52 RBI’s), joined Miller on the first-team.

Pitchers Jeremy Sheehan (6-2, 1.81 earned run average) and Kyle Thornton (16 saves, 1.05 ERA), were also named first-team all-conference.

Freshman outfielders Mike Dabbs (.337, five home runs, 55 RBI’s), and Nick Troilo (.380 average, 16 stolen bases) joined fellow freshmen Kent Williamson (4-0, 2.92 ERA) as second-team selections.

The Tigers (41-9) will battle Butler Community College (34-17) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the second round of the Region VI Tournament played at Wichita’s Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
