WICHITA — Chad Ogden, the Cowley College baseball
team’s starting second baseman each of the past two seasons, drove
in five runs in the Wichita Braves’ 13-5 win over the San Luis
Obispo (Calif.) Blues Sunday at the NBC World Series played at Wichita’s
Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Ogden had a bases-clearing double
in the Braves’ five-run
second inning, and added a pair of sacrifice flies in the win. The Braves’ Deik
Scram, who also spent the past two seasons at Cowley, scored three runs.
The Wichita Braves are now 2-1 in the tournament and
will return to action Tuesday.
Cowley sophomore Brad Miller, the
starting shortstop for El Dorado, went 1-for-4 with a run scored in
the Broncos’ 11-3
win over the Oklahoma City Braves Sunday.
El Dorado has won both of its games in the tournament
and will play the Southern California Fire tonight at 7:30 in the winners
bracket.
The Tournament will run through Sunday. There have
been 23 teams eliminated from the double elimination tournament. Nineteen
teams remain in the hunt for the title, but only eight teams have yet
to suffer a defeat.
