Tiger men’s basketball team signs big time player from St. Louis

Looking to build off a strong finish to his first year as head coach of the Cowley College men’s basketball team, Brian Jackson announced the signing of St. Louis, Mo.  high school standout Sanijay Watts.

Watts was a four-year starter at Jennings (Mo.) High School, where he led the squad to four straight Suburban East Conference titles. As a senior, he averaged 30 points and 12.2 rebounds per game.

“He has the ability to put up big numbers and help get us to the next level,” Jackson said. “He also has the ability to change a game and seems to find a way to win.”

Watts, who is 6-foot-4 205 pounds, is looking forward to helping the Tigers compete for conference and region championships.

“I am really excited to take my game to the next level, and look forward to putting on the Tiger uniform,” Watts said.

Watts was being recruited nationally, but ended up signing with the Tigers after being impressed with his visit to the school.

“Coach Jackson is a really good coach and a good person, I look forward to playing for him,” Watts said. “I also liked the campus, the teachers, and had really good chemistry with the guys on the team when I met them.”

Watts plans to major in physical education.
