Lady Tigers capture Region
VI title
Winning all nine flights of the Region VI Tennis Tournament played Friday
and Saturday at Wichita’s Riverside Tennis Center, the Cowley College
women’s tennis team gave a dominating performance in capturing
the Region VI title.
"We dominated that regional tournament," Cowley College head
coach Brad Louderback said. "Our women were much better than the
rest of the teams."
Cowley garnered all 18 points possible in the tournament and had two
singles players (Hanane Toumi and Karolina Poriskova) and its doubles
team of Toumi (pictured) and Juliana Franco not lose a point in winning
the regional championships at their respective flights.
Cowley’s three doubles teams were extremely impressive as they
won 60 of its 65 games played at the tournament.
"The goal is always to win a flight," Louderback said. "When
everyone does that, it makes you so proud as a coach."
Seward County finished second at the regional tournament (6 ½ points),
while Johnson County finished third with five points. Hutchinson (1 ½ points)
rounded out the teams competing at the tournament.
