The No. 4-ranked Cowley College
women’s tennis
team is off to a tremendous start at the NJCAA Women’s Tennis National
Championships in Tucson, Ariz.
All six Lady Tiger tennis players won the first two rounds and have
advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament. No Cowley player
has lost a set through the first two rounds, and the team’s
top-five singles players did not lose more than one game in any set.
“Everybody has played really well and won convincingly,” Cowley
head coach Brad Louderback said. “However, today will be a big day for
us. There will be a lot of tough matchups.”
Cowley is currently tied for fifth place with 18 points, just four points
behind current leader North Central Texas. Singles play resumed at 7:30
this morning, while all three Cowley doubles teams received a bye in
the first round and will take part in second round matches today at noon.
