Lady Tiger tennis knocks off Tyler Junior College 6-3

In a battle of teams ranked in the top-five of the NJCAA tennis rankings, the No. 5-ranked Cowley College women’s tennis team defeated No. 4-ranked Tyler Junior College Saturday in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Lady Tigers got convincing wins from its top four singles players and its top-two doubles teams.

“This was a fun match because they beat us 8-1 last year,” Cowley head coach Brad Louderback said. “To go in and beat them like that speaks highly of the job the women did in that match. It was a really good team effort.”

Cowley’s Kasia Siwosz, the No. 1-ranked singles player, defeated Tyler’s Manuela Santos 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles and then teamed with Karolina Porizkova to defeat the No. 1 doubles team of Santos and Ashley Irvin 8-2.

Juliana Franco also gave a dominating performance at No. 4 singles as she beat Tyler’s Rachel Anders 6-1, 6-2. Franco also teamed with Hanane Toumi to win at No. 2 doubles 8-4.

The Lady Tigers are now 2-0 on the season. Cowley will not be back in action until March 1 when they host Bethel College at 2 p.m. at the J.C. Louderback Tennis Courts in Arkansas City.
