Coming
off impressive performances at the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison
Invitational on Saturday, the Cowley College cross country teams swept
the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Runner of the Week awards.
Lady Tiger sophomore Irene Kosgei won her first race of the season at
Oklahoma Baptist University. Her time of 18:29 was very quick considering
it was 92 degrees at race time with little to no wind.
Tiger sophomores Mauricio Morales and Brett Koehn shared the Men’s
Runner of the Week honors.
Morales
finished fourth on the Tiger men’s team and 11th overall. However,
he had a personal record time of 26:44 despite running in difficult
conditions and being instructed to go out slow the first mile.

Koehn finished fifth on the team and 12th overall. He ran a personal
record time of 26:57 despite beginning the race in back.
The Tiger men are ranked third in the latest NJCAA rankings, while
the Lady Tigers are ranked sixth. Both teams will be back in action
Saturday when they take part in the Oklahoma State University Jamboree
in Stillwater, Okla. The women’s race will start at 8:05 a.m. and the men’s
race will begin at 8:30 a.m.
