Cowley softball picked to repeat as conference champs

Having won the past four Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division championships, the Cowley College softball team was picked to repeat as conference champions by coaches in the Jayhawk East.

Returning four starters from last year’s team that went 46-9, the Lady Tigers are ranked eighth in the NJCAA preseason softball poll. Cowley went 17-3-1 in its fall exhibition schedule and opened the regular season by splitting a doubleheader at Rose State College on Tuesday.

Cowley will hold its home opener on Tuesday when they host Northern Oklahoma College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
