Ranked sixth among NJCAA schools, the Cowley
College men’s tennis team got an eye opening experience as they
opened its season against the University of Arkansas Sunday in Fayetteville,
Ark.
Cowley dropped each of its singles and doubles matches, but Tiger
head coach Josh Cobble was pleased with the effort his squad gave
against the NCAA Division I Razorbacks as each one of the Tiger’s
singles players and doubles teams won at least one game.
“Everybody had real tough matches but fought real hard and showed a lot
of promise for the season,” Cobble said.
Cowley will not play again until March 1 when they travel to Topeka to
take on Washburn University. The time off will allow them to get some work
done in practice.
“We are going to work on a few more doubles combinations and see where
the chemistry is,” Cobble said. “We are also going to work on getting
everyone back in shape to where we were before we stopped off in December.”
