With
Kasia Siwosz signing early with Baylor University, three more Tiger
tennis players recently signed with NCAA schools.
Siwosz’s doubles partner, Karolina Porizkova, signed a letter of
intent with NCAA Division II Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
Porizkova teamed with Siwosz to capture the national title at No. 1 doubles
as a freshman and the duo is set to defend their title at the NJCAA Women’s
National Tournament.
Porizkova also had a stellar freshman season playing No. 3 singles and
has qualified for this year’s national tournament, while playing
No. 2 singles.
Nova Southeastern was recently selected to compete at the NCAA Division
II Women’s Tennis Championships for the fourth consecutive year.
Richard Filkuka, who has once again qualified for the men’s national
tournament, signed with NCAA Division I Lamar University. Filkuka recently
won the Region VI title in No. 1 singles and teamed with Diego Motivar
to capture the region title at No. 2 doubles as a freshman.
Motivar signed with NCAA Division II Columbus State University in Columbus,
Georgia. Motivar has captured each of the past two Region VI titles at
No. 2 singles. He will be joining a strong Columbus State squad as they
recently qualified for this year’s NCAA Division II Men’s
Tennis Championships.
“I am extremely excited about the opportunities ahead of these three
individuals,” Cowley head coach Josh Cobble said. “They are all
heading to great programs and their future coaches expect them to make an immediate
difference for the teams. Richard, Diego, and Karolina have been a large part
of the success our tennis program has had the last two years.”
