The
Cowley College track and field teams took a limited number of athletes
to compete at the Dean Pryor Invitational held Saturday in Coffeyville.
“We did some good things and got some work done,” Cowley head coach
Mark Phillips said.
The highlight of the meet was Kelsey Poljansek’s performance in
the discus. Poljansek won the event with a school-record toss of 155-feet-3
inches. Poljansek also placed first in the shot put (46-2) and hammer
throw (147-11), while Xandria Cash won the 200-meter dash with a time
of 26.50.
Adam Wolkins won the men’s javelin with a national qualifying throw
of 218-feet-3 inches. Rolando Vasquez placed first in the 1,500-meter
run (4:16.93) and 5,000-meter run (16:18.23), while Justin Viewins (800-meter
run) and Larry Hill (400-meter dash) also had first place finishes at
the meet.
Cowley will host the Tiger Decathlon/Heptathlon Wednesday and Thursday
in Ark City. Wednesday’s competition will start at 4 p.m., while
Thursday’s meet will begin at 9 a.m.

•5,000-meter run — Janee’ Gabbard, 21:41.40, second.
•400-meter hurdles — Gabbard, 1:12.90, third.
•Pole vault — Anna German, 8-feet-9 inches, second.
•Shot put — Kelsey Poljansek, 46-feet-2 inches, first, national
qualifier.
•Discus — Poljansek, 155-feet-3 inches, first, national qualifier,
school-record.

•800-meter run — Justin Viewins, 2:00.81, first.
•1,500-meter run — Rolando Vasquez, 4:16.93, first.
•5,000-meter run — Vasquez, 16:18.23, first; Tristan Wall, 17:01.73,
fourth.
